The flooring begins

Now that the electrical is finished, we are beginning work on the floors. The original part of the house has wonderful old heart pine floors. We had the concrete poured for the addition 1 1/2 inches lower than the original house. This will allow us to lay down 3/4 inch sheets of plywood over the concrete and then add 3/4 inch pine tongue and groove flooring.
I spent the last few days with my brother Mike. He  came over to help me cut and lay down 28 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood to cover the concrete. Tar paper was first laid down for a moisture barrier. The plywood was then nailed into the concrete with a nifty nail gun..

We drove to Daytona Beach today to pick up a trailer load of 3/4 inch tongue and groove pine flooring from Lumber Liquidators.
After a number of grunts and using the secretes of the Egyptians , got the lumber moved into the house.

This is a sample of how the new flooring will look
